Grateful

I am so grateful for the moments when God whispers, "Look how blessed you are."

How I wish I didn't need to be reminded but instead recognized the immensity of my blessings every moment of every day.

Workin' Hard

Before Nate was born Jason joked that he was looking forward to having a son who could one day help him with the yard work. I don't think he realized his wish would be granted so quickly!

A love of mowing and a desire to work hard lead me to believe that this boy will have a lucrative lawn business as a teenager!

Dinner Conversation

Nathan:
"I want to touch my nose."

Jason: "Okay, you can touch your nose."

Nathan: (very seriously) "I want to touch my boogies."

I consider this proof that little boys have an innate desire to pick boogers. (Jason would probably agree if he could just stop laughing.)

(pretending to eat Play-Doh "cookies")

Uno, Dos, Tres!

While we were spending time together this weekend (trying to ward off yucky sick germs), Nathan caught us completely by surprise by counting to ten — in Spanish. Having been born in South America, Jason speaks Spanish beautifully, but neither he nor I have really made an effort to begin teaching Nate a second language. Heck, we're just excited watch his English vocabulary grow. I know that Nathan's class learns three Spanish words each month, and they must also practice counting in Spanish as well. I was not able to catch Nate on camera when he originally surprised us, but I think the video below will give you an idea what a funny and sweet moment it was. His little accent just kills me...

And there you have it. My two year old has nearly surpassed me in Spanish speaking abilities.

Aquaman

Nathan found my goggles the other night (he calls them "gobbles," which brings laughter-induced tears to Carrie's eyes), and proceeded to play around the house with them on. As you'll see below, he even cleaned up his mess and gave Mom a swimming lesson.

Funny enough, he took his bath with his "gobbles" on and thought it was pretty cool. Carrie and Nate are both sick, so hopefully I can get them feeling better over the weekend. There is little that can't be fixed with "the best waffles ever with cinnamon-snow" (as Nate says).

Is it just me,

or is Nate looking more like a big kiddo than my little guy?

Seriously, that happened way too fast.

The Great Outdoors

We did a little outdoor artwork today because the weather was simply too beautiful to be missed. Nathan enjoyed painting rocks and leaves and then using them to stamp his paper (or himself — that's equally fun when you're two)...

It wasn't too long before the "big sand" began calling Nate's name. He took great delight in burying my feet while I imagined my toes in the sands of a place a little more tropical than north Texas (A girl can dream, right?).

(I think he was dreaming of the beach, too!)

Silly Sleeper

When I checked on Nathan at around 10:30 last night I found him asleep in his bin of stuffed animals. Trying not to laugh, I gently returned him to his bed and covered him up. This morning when he awoke, he climbed right back in with his stuffed buddies and was chatting with them when I walked into the room...

Never a dull moment, I tell ya.

Purple Day

You might think that finding something for a little boy to wear on "Purple Day" at school would be a challenge. Not so much for this little guy...

"I wearing my football jersey!"

Cousins are Fun!

And three older boy cousins are extra fun...

This is what happens (for three hours) after three days with three big boy cousins...
