Beach Trip

We had a wonderful time relaxing at the beach in Galveston last week. There were many kind helping hands loving our kiddos, so Jason and I had a chance to put up our feet a bit, too. With school officially starting, it was the perfect time to be at the beach. It felt as though we had the island to ourselves. Nathan wore himself ragged playing inside and out, while Luke kept cool in the air conditioning. There was plenty of laughing, lots of eating, and some much-needed resting...

We were also excited to see ToTo, TaTa, and Uncle Mark in Houston...

Hooray for vacation!

Four Months

Somehow my little Luke has already reached the 4 month mark, which astounds me. Time truly is flying by this second time around, and I try to soak in our moments alone as much as possible so as not to allow this precious stage to get lost in the busyness of life. Luke continues to be such a happy guy. He began teething about a month ago and seems to be working pretty hard on getting his first bottom tooth. At his 4-month well visit last week we learned that he now weighs 17 lbs., 6 oz. (89th percentile) and measures about 26" long (85th percentile), which is very similar to how Nathan measured at this age. He loves playing with his feet, rolls all over the place, and can often be heard "talking." I'd say he's just about as sweet as they come...

talking...

and teething...

These guys are definitely brothers!

Drawing

Nathan completely surprised me yesterday when he sat down to color a picture of me. You see, up to this point all of his drawings have been abstract scribbles and usually more about the fun of marking on the paper than trying to represent something. But this is yesterday's creation (I had written the "N" earlier):

How precious it is to watch my children growing before my eyes.

Catching Up

Today Luke had his first playdate with Abigail, my dear friend Leslie's adorable daughter. Luke slept for most of their visit, but it was a wonderful excuse for me to spend time with one of my favorite people. Sweet Abby is five months older than my little guy, so she had plenty of fun things to teach him. Nathan, of course, wanted to be right there in the mix!

Beautiful!

In other news (I am terribly behind on posting, as usual), Nathan has been having a blast learning about baseball in his Little Sluggers class. He asks that Luke and I sit in the stands to watch him, rather than on the field like the other mothers and siblings do because I think he likes the idea that we are his cheering fans — ha! It is incredibly entertaining to watch three-year-olds learn how to do things like bat and slide. Nate isn't too keen on catching the ball, but he is great at throwing and hitting. Mostly, though, he just has fun, which I love.

Nate also got to attend his first real baseball game a few weeks ago with his daddy. A friend from my moms group generously gave us her family's Rangers tickets, since they could not make it to the game. Jason said their seats were amazing and that Nate had an incredible time (they even made it onto the Jumbotron!). Jason sent me these pictures from his phone during the game...

Love it!

Just Today

Nathan is recovering from a lovely case of bronchitis this week, so we spent the day laying low at home (not that we really missed being out in the 110ยบ heat). I'm sure it seems as though we never venture out of the house, sick or not, since these appear to be the only times I manage to bring out the camera — ha!

This angel is 15 weeks old today.
Luke enjoys the Bumbo seat a lot, which came as a total surprise to me. I nearly gave it away because Nathan barely used it (his legs didn't fit in it for long, and he never really seemed to love it). Sitting up is the position that Luke likes most, though, so it has been well used lately. Thank goodness I held onto it after all!

It tickles me that Nate's legs were too big to fit in the seat as a baby, but now he easily slides in and out of it.

Later we cleared the toy basket off of the window ledge in our breakfast room, and Nathan decided to use it as a stage for a play. He dressed himself as a king (can't you tell?) and me as a princess. Unfortunately for you, there is no documentation of my amazing costume.
