Bedtime Conversation

Tonight as we were finishing bedtime prayers:

Nathan: "And I want God to bless Joseph and Luke and my whole class — except not the girls. They have terrible backpacks."

Me: (trying not to let my face reveal my amusement) "What do you mean? It's okay if they have different backpacks."

Nathan: "Well, Ana and Hailey Grace have Tinkerbell on their backpacks, and I just don't like Tinkerbell. They have cute, pretty stuff on them — and I don't like cute, pretty stuff. Except for Jolee's backpack has mouses on it and different colors, and that's okay...So, not the girls."

Oh, dear. Sometimes I think this boy has enough testosterone for ten! Did I mention that he asked to have a Monster Jam birthday party this year?

Dear Santa,

Just put a bow on these moments, please.

Nathan's Nativity

It is a little known fact that the Magi and shepherds stopped by Luigi's Casa della Tires on their way to meet the baby Jesus. And, judging by the proximity of the Christmas star, I'd say Bethlehem is just down the interstate from Radiator Springs. Who knew?

7 months

This sweet guy is officially 7 months old today. His personality is really beginning to emerge (along with another tooth, apparently — check out that drool!)...


Luke's ever-increasing mobility definitely keeps us on our toes! Pulling up on just about anything has become his favorite trick...

So very thankful for this little life.

I know it doesn't quite measure up to autumn in New England, but fall in North Texas is still glorious in my eyes. We spent the morning getting some much-enjoyed fresh air...

Happy Halloween

When Nathan woke up (way too early) this morning, he climbed under the covers next to me and said, "Mom, I'm so excited! Today is Halloween!" His excitement was quickly replaced by disappointment upon learning that, although it was dark outside (way. too. early.), it was not time to go trick-or-treating yet.

Nate helped Daddy carve our pumpkins yesterday...

He's 3 1/2 going on 12, apparently... Our other little pumpkin...
