What Rodeo?

We spent Sunday afternoon at the Fort Worth livestock show and rodeo, though you would never know that based on the pictures I brought home. While Nathan did enjoy seeing the animals and cowboys, he was most excited about the tractors and construction vehicles that were for sale at the expo. I'm pretty sure if you asked him what a rodeo is all about he would provide you with a detailed description of this:

Wednesday at the Zoo

After spending a week at home recovering from a lovely case of the flu, Nathan was more than ready to get out of the house today to enjoy the sunshine (and burn some energy). The weather was absolutely perfect for a zoo date, and we were surprised to have the place virtually to ourselves on such a beautiful day.

Nate loves to push the stroller himself
(which I can't say that I mind — ha!)

The funniest thing I've seen in a while...

And finally, a picnic lunch. We could hear the lion roaring loudly while we ate, which I thought was pretty cool (Nate, not so much).

Boy Things

You know, I never really imagined that I would one day be able to identify each of the construction vehicles I pass while driving, or that I would become an expert on things like combines and garbage trucks. Legos and Matchbox cars never even crossed my mind before my little "guy's guy" came into being. It's funny how all things "boy" have invaded my world, and I find myself loving it — because I love him...

Need the crescent wrench (not the socket wrench) from Nathan's tool box? No problem — this this boy mom is on it!

Well hello, Handsome!

It's hard to believe that we will get to meet our sweet baby boy in just a few short months! Somehow, the third trimester of pregnancy is already here. My precious boy appears to be healthy, and things are going well, so we are very thankful for that. I have entered full-on nesting mode, which I don't really remember happening during Nathan's pregnancy (maybe bed rest interfered with that?) Here's a peek at my little mover (laying with his head on the left, taken about a week ago):

Big brother is getting very excited about "Baby Wuke"...

Back in action

I am once again embarrassingly behind on updating the blog. Since the last post (almost a month ago — yikes), we celebrated Christmas in Houston and at home in Fort Worth, rang in 2011, enjoyed birthdays, and rejoiced over an amazing Horned Frog victory at the Rose Bowl.

Nathan got to wear his jammies to school on the last day before Christmas break...

We talked a lot about Advent this year, and Nate loved opening the calendars each day and lighting the candles on our Advent wreath as we awaited the arrival of Christmas. It was very hard for him to be patient at first, but he eventually understood that we were preparing for Christmas each day...

(and I learned to put in just one treat at a time — ha!)

A special ornament from Aunt Heather...

Christmas in Houston at ToTo and TaTa's house...

and Christmas morning in Fort Worth...

Though the true meaning of Christmas is certainly not about toys or presents, I will forever remember this as the year of Stinky the Garbage Truck. Stinky, which Nathan happened to spot in the Target toy mailer, was the one and only thing he asked Santa to bring him. It was such a strange obsession, considering that Nate really had no experience with Stinky other than seeing his picture. Thank goodness Santa came through!

Happy New Year!

(Please excuse my TCU pride)

Many blessings to you in 2011!
