Festival Fun

Saturday evening we joined the Fort family at a local festival where we exhausted ourselves with fun. We spread out our blankets to eat and listen to some live music...

I think if we had let him, Nathan would still be pushing his stroller up and down the sidewalk...
Sweet Milla
The kids and moms enjoyed the merry-go-round
(until our horse came unbolted from the floor – yikes!)...

Thanks so much for a fun evening Roger, Ashlee, and Milla!

Popsicle

I came across a recipe for strawberry and applesauce popsicles (it's as easy as it sounds) and thought I'd make some for my little Ice Cream Monster to try. He was pretty excited that I let him hold the popsicle all by himself...

Cold, but so yummy...
Drinking the juice was Nathan's favorite part
(he's a master of the straw)...
Then it was off to the spray park to wash away our stickiness...

Swimming = Summer

Hooray! The pool is finally opened for the summer...

Can you tell how sleepy all that swimming made Nathan?
When he gets a little older I think
he'll really love the water slides...
In all, there are six different pools in our neighborhood park. I have never been to a community pool complex quite like it (Jason and I joked that we felt like we were on vacation). I think Nate and I are really going to enjoy swimming here this summer. We can't wait to invite our friends and grandparents and aunts and uncles to join us!

Wedding weekend

On Saturday our dear friends Ryan and Cathy became Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Jason and I were so happy to be a part of their special day, which took place in Odessa, Texas. It was the first time we'd ever spent the night (two, actually) away from Nathan, and we missed him terribly. Even so, it was wonderful to spend time together and with our friends.

So happy
My very handsome date

Meanwhile, Nathan spent the weekend with Noni and PawPaw in Fort Worth. They so generously offered to drive up to stay with him so that Jason and I could have a date. I'm pretty sure Nate didn't even notice we were gone for all of the fun he had...

Poor baby will just have to put up with the barrage of kisses I will be planting on him for the next several days!

Diaper Man + Storytime

Nathan scampered off into the living room this morning while I was choosing his outfit from the closet. Now that he can walk confidently, he is on a mission when he moves! I walked into the living room to find him scooting around, diaper-clad, on his little car. I love these funny little moments (toddlerhood seems to be full of them).

Once I finally wrestled clothes onto Diaper Man, we headed to the library to meet our friends Milla and Ashlee for toddler story time (nothing beats free activities with friends!). We were so happy that Hudson and his mom Ginny could join us, too! Ashlee snapped several wonderful pictures of the little ones. I tried desperately to keep Nate from pulling all of the library books from the shelves (you may remember that "Take Books Out" is one of his favorite games). Between the climbing and the squirming and the book grabbing it was a little bit stressful for me. I may have been the only mom who left story time sweating. My hope is that the more we go, the better Nathan will understand that sometimes we have to sit still (please don't laugh too hard).
