Welcome Fall

Beautiful autumn weather finally blew into north Texas this weekend, and we were thrilled to join our friends Christi and Addi at the zoo today to enjoy the gloriously cool temperatures. Great company and a hint of fall made for a really wonderful morning at the zoo. I did a pitiful job taking pictures but did manage to snap a couple of shots...

"Long Legs Olivier"

Many of the animals were really active today —
I think they were happy about the weather, too!

Sweet Addison

Just look how much Nate and Addi have grown since
last September's trip to the zoo. Goodness, time flies!

Bad Blogger (again)

We're still here — thank you for your patience! The spare moments normally used for blogging have lately been spent resting (pregnancy + two-year-old boy = utter exhaustion). I will try to be better about updates, family! Nathan is doing great and reached the 2 1/2 mark a few weeks ago. He is full of stories, sillies, and endless energy...

(yep, that's sand piled on top of his ear)

...........

I also wanted to share some pictures from our last triathlon of the season (also a few weeks ago). Jason competed in the sprint race and did an amazing job, placing third in his age group! Charlie competed in his first half Iron race (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run) and did incredibly, placing third in his age group as well! It was a very, very warm day for such a long race, so I was exceedingly proud of they guys for simply finishing (let alone placing). They are super heroes in the eyes of one little man in particular...

(We watched the sun rise)

This was the first A&M Tri Team event I have been to, and it was really great to see the comradery of the students. They did a yell before the race began, which I think even the non-Aggies found to be pretty cool. Triathlon is such an individual sport that it's not often you see participants supporting each other like that (at least not before the race — ha!).

So proud of you, guys!

Teeny Tiny Great Big News

We are expecting a new little one in our family! We've been hoping for this blessing for a long time, so Jason and I are both beyond excited and extremely grateful. When we explained to Nate that there is a baby in Mommy's tummy he kissed my stomach and said, "I want the baby to come out now." He went with us to our sonogram this morning and wanted to comfort me when the baby's heartbeat filled the room, saying, "Don't worry, Mom. It's just a sound."

Our precious peanut...

Big brother is very excited...

(emphasis on BIG brother)

Back to School

Nate had a great first day back at school today. When I arrived to pick him up one of his new teachers commented to me about how talkative he is, and I had to laugh. She said during naptime he told her that he used all the money he'd saved in his piggy bank to buy a new bicycle — ha! He also used the potty well and kept his big boy underpants dry all day. Hooray!

Catching Up

I am terribly behind on updating the blog yet again. Thank you for not giving up on me! We've had a busy few weeks with many visitors and activities (though not many pictures to show for it, I'm afraid). Nathan went to "Meet the Teacher" on Tuesday morning, and I am so grateful that he seems to be happy about returning to school tomorrow. Equally exciting for Nate (and his daddy) is the start of football season. This weekend we happened upon a peewee league game, and Nathan was mesmerized...

Future Heisman...

And a few shots from our recent trip to the zoo...
