Lake Lounging

On Saturday we took a family trip to Burger's Lake, which is a little spring-fed body of water west of the city that has been a Fort Worth recreational spot since the 1930s. I am not typically a big fan of lake swimming (wimpy, I know), but the water here was incredibly clean and really refreshing. Nate had a blast playing in the sand and splashing around...

Let's just say there was no shortage of
people-watching opportunities...

Jason gave the trapeze a try...

And we ate a huge picnic lunch...

But mostly, Nathan just swam and laughed...

(That last one made you laugh, too, didn't it?)

Buddies

Nate had a blast with his buddy Austin at the spray park this morning. Good friends and a little bit of water sure do make the summer heat more enjoyable!

(Same boys. Same park. Last summer.)

Last Day of School

Today was Nate's last day of preschool for the year. As we drove to school this morning, I looked in my rearview mirror and said, "I love you, Buddy," as I do most every day when we're in the car. Today, I heard a little voice reply, "Thank you for playing toys with me."

Nathan's teachers sent home a very special book of pictures they took of him throughout the year, which this sentimental mom will treasure...

They also shared this picture of last week's End of Year Blessing (Nathan is in the center of the front row, with his head turned to the side).

And so begins summer in the Olivier house!

Today

Nathan's last class at The Little Gym is quickly approaching, so I thought I'd bring along the camera today to capture some memories. Nate began taking classes there when he was just five-months-old and not even able to sit up on his own, and now he is a big two-year-old boy who runs circles around me during exploration time and says things to his instructor like, "Let's play with hula hoops today!" It has been a wonderful place for him, but we're excited to try a different program (SoccerTots) this summer.

After a nap, we made our inaugural trip to the spray park for the summer season. Nathan was thrilled to be there but was a bit more timid about actually getting sprayed than I remember him being last year. I have a feeling he will get braver as the weather becomes hotter!

Doesn't he look like his daddy here?

Hello? This is Nathan.

Uh-huh — tell me about it!
Mommy has been really slow to update the blog this week.

Okay. I'll let her know you said to get on the stick.

No problem. Later alligator!
