Around here lately...

(Apparently, a hat and mittens
are necessary when watching Frosty.)

And did I mention that these crazy guys ran in the
White Rock Marathon a few weeks ago? Yep. They rock.

Just for Grins

Betcha didn't know Spiderman celebrates Christmas, too...

Thankful

Our family had a wonderful Thanksgiving in the Texas hill country. We are so very grateful for all of our dear family and friends. As we went around the table sharing what each of us is most thankful for this year, Nathan said he wanted to tell God thank you for "my family in my heart."

I can't wait to have another little boy with us at the table next year!

Sorry to hijack the post here, but saw this commercial and had to share it since it ties in so well with Carrie's final comment. For those of you who knew me and my brother as kids you will see how this commercial represents Carrie's fear of what might happen if our two boys are anything like the dynamic duo of my brother and me:

Ice

This weekend we took Nathan to see "ICE!" with Charlie Brown, which is an amazing display of sculpted ice at the Gaylord Texan. Though the exhibit was completely child-friendly, Nate was more than a little overwhelmed (we clearly don't need to worry about saving up for Disney World any time soon — ha!). My poor guy decided he was scared before we even walked through the doors — and, by golly, he stuck to it!

The rooms of the exhibit are kept at a very chilly 9º to prevent the ice from melting, so visitors are given parkas to wear (though, when you're pregnant, 9º doesn't feel half bad!)...

At the end of the exhibit there was a beautiful nativity scene also carved in ice. A narrator told the story of Jesus' birth as various parts of the scene were illuminated...

You'll be shocked, I'm sure, to know that Nathan much preferred watching the model trains inside the hotel to our ICE experience. What can I say? I tried...

Men at Work

Nate helped Jason install a French drain in our backyard over the weekend. He was completely thrilled to be covered in mud and working with tools alongside his dad...

Halloween

Our hearts are heavy, so it feels a bit strange to post about seemingly silly things today. Even so, this blog has always been meant to serve as a bright spot for our families, a way to share Nate's contagious joy with our loved ones many miles away. It is with that purpose in mind that I share our Halloween adventures:

The hilariously buff Spiderman Nate...

"Trick-or-treat!"

Practicing his door-knocking technique at our house...

Can you tell Nathan was a little excited about his candy?

A little over a week ago Nate helped carve our pumpkin (a side note: do not carve your pumpkin a week early unless, of course, you are hoping for a very moldy jack-o-lantern on Halloween night — ha!)

Nathan also dressed up for Frog Fest at TCU about a week and a half ago. We watched the homecoming parade with our dear friends and played games at the carnival. Nate squeezed into his fireman costume for the night...

I love these boys...

Nate was also a fireman on Saturday with
his cousin/buddy/partner in crime, Logan...

Happy Halloween to all!
